MEET TMAFC's Instructors

Master Samantha Volk
4th Dan Black Belt
Intermediate 1 Green Belt, Haganah F.I.G.H.T

 

Master Samantha Volk has been a student of Master Trento's for 25 years. She is the most senior student of TMAFC. She received her 1st Degree Black Belt in 2004 and her 2nd Dan in 2012. She has competed in AAU Taekwondo tournaments in Point Sparring and Forms and attended the AAU Taekwondo Nationals in 2012 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. 

Master Volk is also a Class A Official for AAU Taekwondo and has officiated in tournaments held in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Maryland areas as well as at nationals. She was an official for the 2018 and 2019 AAU Taekwondo Team Trials and is a Clinic Administrator for the state of New Jersey along with Master Trento. Master Volk tested for 3rd Degree in 2017, being one of the first 3rd Dan Black Belts for the school. She was also one of the first 4th Degree Black Belts for the school when she tested in 2021. Master Volk is one of nine Senior Instructors nationwide of the Combat Taekwondo System.

Miss Erin McKenna
3rd Dan Black Belt
Intermediate 1 Green Belt, HaganaH F.I.G.H.T

 

Miss Erin McKenna has been a student of Master Trento's for 18 years. She started training at the age of eight years old and was one of Master Trento's first Black Belts. She attained her Deputy Black Belt in 2009, 1st Dan in 2010, 2nd Dan in 2012, and recently tested for her 3rd Dan in 2019.


Miss McKenna has competition experience, competing at state tournaments throughout New Jersey and even regional in Rhode Island in 2007. Recently she began to officiate tournaments through the AAU Taekwondo Program. Miss McKenna is also a fully certified Combat Taekwondo Instructor under Master Trento and attended all three module certifications including P.O.I.N.T Self-Defense, Combat Taekwondo Sparring, and KickReady Fitness. She is also a Class "C" Official for AAU Taekwondo. 

Miss McKenna is a Teaching Assistant for Trento's Martial Arts and Fitness Center and is working to going through her school's instructing certifications as well. Besides training in Taekwondo, she has began her training in HaganaH F.I.G.H.T and looking to progress her training there as well. She has her sights set for 4th Dan in October 2024. 

C. I Thomas Cubby
2nd Dan Black Belt, Taekwondo
Brown Belt Level 3, Haganah FIGHT

 

Mr. Thomas Cubby began training under Master Trento in January 2014 after being enrolled in a Continued Education course in leadership and positive thinking. Mr. Cubby earned his Deputy Black Belt in April 2018 and his 1st Degree Black Belt in October 2018. He also trains in Kickboxing at TMAFC and is also a Brown Belt Level 1 in HaganaH FIGHT.

Mr. Cubby has been a member of the TMA Warrior Competition Team and competed in tournaments in Maryland and New Jersey, as well as becoming a certified AAU Taekwondo Coach, and is also a certified Level 3 Teaching Assistant Instructor. Mr. Cubby was also one of the first Certified P.O.I.N.T Self-Defense Instructors in the country for Combat Taekwondo System. On his free time he enjoys watching football and playing ukulele! 

C. I Heather Marte-Redlich
1st Dan Black Belt

 

Miss Heather Marte originally began at TMAFC in the fitness classes in the fall of 2013 until she began her Taekwondo training under Master Trento in November 2014. Later she began training in Battle Ready Kickboxing as well. In the 2016-2017 year, Miss Marte also began competition training on the school's competition team, TMA Warriors, and traveled to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland winning many tournaments and is a bronze and silver medalist at the 2017 AAU Taekwondo National Championships and Gold medalist in Point Sparring at the 2018 nationals held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida placing her on the adult national team for AAU Taekwondo.

 

Miss Marte ran the school's competition team as well as served as a competitor. She also began the TMAFC Kicks Cancer Relay for Life Team in 2019, leading the team in becoming th highest fundraising team of 2019! Miss Marte is a 3rd Dan Balso a Certified P.O.I.N.t Self-Defense Instructor in Combat Taekwondo.

S.I Theodoris Costa
3rd Dan Black Belt

 

Mr. Theodoris Costa is a student of Master Trento for 14 years since the opening of Trento's Martial Arts and Fitness Center. He tested for his Junior Black Belt in March 2016 and attained 1st Degree (poom) in October 2016. He then tested for his 2nd Dan in October 2018. Mr. Costa gas gone through TMAFC's instructor training certifications and is a Senior Instructor for the school. Mr. Costa is especially great with teaching the children's program for Taekwondo.

Mr. Costa has also experience in Taekwondo competition. He attended tournaments locally in New Jersey, New York state, New York city, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, including going to the 2018 AAU Taekwondo Nationals held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He has many medals in Olympic Sparring, Point Sparring, and Forms competiition. In 2019, Mr. Costa went to Greensboro, North Carolina and won three Golds and one Silver in Forms competition, silver and gold in Breaking, and came home as the overall male Grand Champion for Forms at the AAU Junior Olympics. He is also a Class "C" Official an won "Best New Referee Award" at the 2022 AAU Taekwondo Nationals.

 

Mr. Costa has his sights set on testing for 4th Dan Black Belt in October of 2024.
